Healthcare & medical

Healthcare websites from someone who's worked inside the NHS

Websites, communications and photography for private clinics, dental practices, therapists and NHS teams, built around patients who are often anxious and need clear, honest information.

I spent 18 months as communications manager for two development programmes in maternity and neonatal services at Oxford University Hospitals, and I still design their 56-page newsletter every two months. I know how healthcare teams work, how carefully patient information has to be written and how many people need to sign it off.

NHS experience

Communications for maternity and neonatal care

I was brought in as communications manager for two development programmes in maternity and neonatal services at Oxford University Hospitals, working with clinical teams to keep staff and partners informed.

A 56-page newsletter, every two months

I set up the programmes' full-colour newsletter, and I still design every issue, bringing together updates from clinicians, managers and staff into something people actually want to read.

NHS photography

I've also photographed NHS staff and events in Oxford, so I know how to work quietly and respectfully in a hospital setting.

Who I help

From private clinics to NHS programmes

Whether you're bringing in new patients or keeping hundreds of NHS staff informed, the goal is the same: clear, trustworthy communication.

Private clinics & consultants

Clear consultant profiles, treatment pages written for patients rather than clinicians, and a simple route to book or enquire.

Dental & hygiene practices

Prices patients can understand, online booking and local SEO for your practice, so patients nearby find you before the chain down the road.

Physios, therapists & wellbeing

Calm, accessible websites that explain what you treat, reassure people who may be anxious about getting help and make booking easy.

NHS teams & programmes

Newsletters, campaign materials, programme websites and photography for NHS teams who need to keep staff and partners informed. I understand clinical sign-off, NHS timelines and writing for a mixed audience.

Health campaigns & charities

Brand identity, websites and SEO for health campaigns and charities that need to reach patients, staff and supporters, like the national Call Me Because Names Matter campaign. See also my charity website work.

Getting it right

What a healthcare website needs to do

Patients often arrive worried, in pain or short of time. Every page has to answer their questions quickly and give them confidence to get in touch.

Plain English, not jargon

Treatments explained the way patients talk about them: what it is, what happens, how long it takes and what it costs. Clinical detail stays accurate, but it doesn't get in the way.

Accessible to everyone

Readable text, good colour contrast, clear headings and pages that work with screen readers. I build to accessibility standards and check every page before it goes live.

Trust signals in the right places

Qualifications, team photos, genuine patient reviews and, for CQC-registered providers, your current CQC rating displayed clearly, as the CQC requires.

Careful with patient information

Secure hosting, GDPR-friendly forms that don't ask for more than they need, and links into your existing booking system rather than collecting medical details through a contact form.

Prices

Clear prices, agreed up front

Every project gets a fixed quote before any work starts, so there are no surprises for your practice or your programme budget.

Questions

Common questions from clinics and NHS teams

If your question isn't answered here, call or email and you'll get a straight answer from me.

Have you worked in healthcare before?

Yes. I spent 18 months as communications manager for two development programmes in maternity and neonatal services at Oxford University Hospitals, and I still design their 56-page newsletter every two months. I've also built websites for The Dental Hygiene Suite in Truro and the national Call Me Because Names Matter campaign.

Can you link our website to our existing booking system?

Yes. Most clinics already use an online booking or practice management system, and I link the website to it so patients can book in a few clicks. You don't need to change the system you already use.

Do you work with NHS teams as well as private clinics?

Yes. Alongside private clinics, I provide newsletters, campaign materials, websites and photography for NHS teams and programmes. I understand clinical sign-off and NHS timescales, and I'm used to working with mixed teams of clinicians and managers.

Will our website meet accessibility standards?

I build to accessibility standards, with clear headings, readable text, good colour contrast and pages that work with screen readers, and I check every page before it goes live. This matters even more in healthcare, where many patients have additional needs.

Do we have to display our CQC rating on our website?

If you're registered with the CQC and have been rated, yes: providers must display their current rating on their website. I'll make sure it's shown clearly, usually using the official CQC widget, which keeps it up to date automatically.

Can you host our website and keep it secure?

Yes. When I host a website I've built, Sally and I take care of all the security and software updates, so your site stays safe and up to date without you having to think about it.

How much does a healthcare website cost?

Clinic websites start from £900, and growth websites with more treatments and locations start from £1,500. Local SEO starts from £100 a month. I'll give you a fixed price before any work starts.
