1. Who I am
This website is run by Peter Haken, a sole trader trading as Swanky Pixels. For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.

Email: hello@swankypixels.com
Phone: 07596 020 189
2. What information I collect
- Enquiry and contact forms: your name, email address, phone number, website address and anything you write in your message.
- Free website review form: your name, email address, website address and any details you share about your business.
- Emails and phone calls: your contact details and what we discuss.
- Client work: contact, billing and project information needed to deliver your website, SEO or video project.
- Website usage (only with your consent): how you found the site, the pages you visit, your approximate location, and your device and browser type, collected by Google Analytics.
I don't knowingly collect sensitive personal information. Please don't include it in forms or emails.
3. How I use it, and the lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry or review request: legitimate interests, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
- To deliver work you've hired me for: performance of a contract.
- To keep business and tax records: legal obligation.
- To understand how the website is used and improve it: your consent, given through the cookie banner.
- To measure advertising: your consent, given through the cookie banner.
I won't add you to a mailing list or send marketing emails unless you've asked to receive them. I never sell your information.
4. Cookies
When you first visit, a cookie banner asks for your permission before any non-essential cookies are set. Cookies are grouped as follows:
- Functional: needed for the website to work, including remembering your cookie choices. These don't require consent.
- Preferences: Google Maps, used to show embedded maps.
- Statistics: Google Analytics, used to understand visits and enquiries.
- Marketing: Google Ads, used to measure whether adverts lead to enquiries.
Preferences, statistics and marketing cookies are only set if you accept them. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time using the cookie banner, or by clearing cookies in your browser.
5. Who I share it with
I only share your information with trusted services that help me run the business, and only as much as they need:
- Website hosting and email: Krystal and Heart Internet, which store form submissions and emails on their servers.
- Google: Analytics and Ads, only if you consent to those cookies.
- My accountant: for client billing records.
I'll only share information with anyone else if the law requires it.
6. International transfers
Some providers, including Google, may process data outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where this happens, it's protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK–US data bridge or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
7. How long I keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to work: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Client records: 6 years after the end of the project, as required for tax purposes.
- Google Analytics data: 14 months, as set in my Analytics settings.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
- ask me to correct anything that's wrong
- ask me to delete your information
- object to, or ask me to restrict, how I use it
- withdraw your consent at any time, where I rely on consent
- ask for your information in a portable format
To make a request, email hello@swankypixels.com. I'll reply within one month. There's no charge.
If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab). I'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
9. Keeping it secure
This website uses an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Access to form submissions, email and client files is protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication, and the website software is kept up to date.
10. Changes to this policy
I'll update this page if the way I handle personal information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
